Great!

This Brooks Cascadia 9 review gives the shoe an overall score of 9 out of 10. It is the perfect uncompromising trail shoe that runners can use when they need better grip and protection. While it is a slightly bulkier shoe, it remains lightweight and the runner can still feel fast in it. The ballistic rock protection also gives more confidence on the track because the runner would feel as though they can step anywhere.

Pros and Cons

This Brooks Cascadia 9 review looks at the advantages and disadvantages of this shoe.

Pros

Ballistic rock protection under the forefoot. The protection is flexible, but powerful plate in the midsole to provide added security on stony and rocky terrains.

  • It has four-point pivot posts – two on both sides of the ankle and two on both sides of the foot. It cradles the foot on the changing terrain that trail runners experience.
  • Sheds dirt quickly
  • Also looks good with jeans
  • Multi-awarded Ultrarunner Scott Jurek is part of the Cascadia’s development team. He helped with the design as well as wear testing of the shoe.

Cons

Not so great for runners who want a low heel-toe drop.

  • It is slightly heavier compared with similar trail shoes.

The Cascadia has a long-standing appeal to off-road runners of any level. It has gone through many versions and has maintained its success. This Brooks Cascadia 9 review would reveal why it is an outstanding pair despite the lack of any recent ground-breaking changes, as it is hard to really update a shoe more than a couple of times and still make significant improvements.

Brooks Cascadia 9 did not deviate much from its previous version. It has the same outsole as the last version and followers of Cascadia can still trust its durability. Moreover, it has the feel of traditional running shoes. In the midsole, Brooks still uses the Bio Mogo DNA material for a cushioned ride. The current drop is at 12mm, increasing the previous drop by 2mm.

For a soft, secure wrap around the foot, the upper material has been changed to suede-like overlays. This tweak did not affect the weight of the shoes. At 340 grams (12 ounces), it has similar weight as with other versions.

Trail Testing

A Brooks Cascadia 9 review will not be complete without testing the shoes on different trails. Overall, it is a great shoe that can handle wet and muddy roads, fastpack trips, and technical and nontechnical trails. It can steadily perform on anything that is thrown at it. Runners would feel secure as the shoe has substantial protection under the foot. There are no issues on the guidance loops on the shoe’s tongue. The Cascadia 9 is a versatile, solid performer.

Although it is still somewhat big in appearance, it delivers on that visual appeal and it is bolder than ever. This Brooks Cascadia 9 review has found out that it has an aggressive grip. It does not feel awkward or annoying when the trail becomes smooth because its lugs are low. Because of its alternating forward and backward-facing V design, it provides grip in both directions and also laterally. Furthermore, the shoe tends not to hold clog and mud, getting rid of them quickly. Perhaps, this shoe has the best grip on the market.
